A link to connect cyclists and pedestrians with Broadmeadows

Wednesday 02/11/11

Meadowlink is a proposed 3.2km bicycle, pedestrian and open space link that extends between Moonee Ponds Creek in the west and Merlynston Creek in the east.

Meadowlink will allow the community to ride and walk from nearby residential neighbourhoods to the Broadmeadows Town Centre, train station and parklands.

Residents and visitors will have noticed the recent completion of the Dimboola Community Link, a 185m section of Meadowlink.  The Dimboola Community Link travels through the Hume Secondary College Dimboola Road Campus and connects with the new Tanderrum Way Extension to Johnstone Street Reserve.

A draft master plan has been prepared for the whole of Meadowlink as well as a more detailed concept design for the east neighbourhood section.

The project will deliver sustainable transport solutions through improved capacity, amenity and integration of public transport, walking and cycling.

It is anticipated that the eastern section of Meadowlink will start construction in 2013-2014.
